His Point of View

Its Beer o’clock

chimaybChimay…. need I say more?

Chimay is one of the finer Beers in the world.  Even more important the blue label variety is 9% alcohol by volume.  If you ever have a chance to drink one of these fine trappist productions please do so.  Although the price can be steep when compared to other beers, you will not be disappointed.  A 12 oz. bottle of Chimay Blue usually costs about $4 in a beer/wine/liquor stroe, and $6-8 in a bar.  While the 750 mL bottle will hit your pocket for about $10-12  in a beer/wine/liquor store.  There is a such thing as a 1.5 Litre bottle of this good stuff but I have yet to find it here in the states.

Oh yeah and if you have patience this beer ages as if it were a wine, if you can stand to wait 5 or 7 years while this beer sits in a dark cool place they say this beer tastes even better!!!  (But I would not know anything about that.)

As a purveyor of fine beer, you may like to seek out an Australian brew, Coopers. Producing a range of beers, including my favourite, the Pale Ale and other notables including the Sparkling Ale and a fine stong Stout (I’ve heard Irish exclaim this is better than Guiness!).

I note that the trappist monks have been producing Chimay since 1864, the same year that Coopers produced its first ale…

    Nice blog…
