Net Neutrality (and some other things)

OK people under 40, its time that we take control of the issues that will be relevant for the rest of our lives, we can’t allow these people who have been in office since we were born make our lives miserable from now untilthey are ushered off to their retirement community. John McCain some how woke up and decided to introduce a bill concerning net neutrality. This is a man who has admitted to not using computers or the Internet. Would we let a person who can’t read be a librarian? I think not…if you don’t use the Internet you don’t understand it. If you don’t understand the Internet and you are responsible for writing & voting on laws you should sit down somewhere and leave this task to those who are well informed. Not only should you not introduce bills related to the Internet but you should take a day off when its time to vote on such topics.
If you don’t use computers or the Internet you have no business trying to write policy/law concerning what is best for millions of Internet users. If the people who are affected by these ridiculous bills/laws don’t stand up and let their voices be heard we will continue to be subject to the will of the companies that fund campaigns and lobby politicians to get what they want. I am pretty sure that John McCain could care less about what’s best for the future growth of the Internet, why should he care if he does not use it?
Whether you are for or against net neutrality you need to have some input on the future of the Internet. We can start with net neutrality and then tackle health care and Social Security (since this health care thing probably won’t get solved this year & and even if it is there will be fights to un-do whatever is done for many years to come). These old folks don’t know how to get the job done in 2009… we need to step up and show them that more (well informed) action and less partisan arguing is what we need.
If you are a politician determined to stay in office for the remainder of your working years/life you can not be fully committed to doing what’s best for the people you are supposed to be in office to serve.
You can not be more concerned with re-election than you are with making a better future for the people you serve.
That’s all I have to say about that…
