His Point of View

Are some women avoiding housework at all costs?

It has come to my attention that some women are making a conscious effort to avoid doing any thing that might be considered ‘woman’s work’…by this I mean cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, etc.  I have even been told by some women that their refusal to do housework is the result of their mother’s teachings.  Apparently some mothers have taught their daughters that they do not have to do housework…. or at least that’s what these young ladies interpreted their mother’s message to mean.  Although I understand the intent of a mother teaching a daughter that there is no such thing as ‘woman’s work’ I do not think that lesson was meant to teach young ladies to be filthy creatures.

Why am I discussing this issue?  Do I want women to be barefoot and pregnant?  Do I expect women to cook and clean for me while I lay around and drink beer and watch football? If you asked me any of those questions I would say ‘no.’  But ladies if you live alone… that means you have to do housework, for yourself!!!  I find it disturbing to meet women who don’t know what bleach is used for, who can’t cook, or who have piles of clothes laying around their own house.  If you live alone guess what…. somebody needs to scrub your tub, vacuum, and do laundry.  And guess what that means… either do it yourself or pay someone to do it for you.   There is no excuse for a single woman’s home to look like a frat house.   Do you really think you are going to attract a decent guy with a filthy home?

I understand that no one want to pick up after another adult, including the person they are dating, and I am not saying that you should… but if you live alone picking up after yourself should be a no-brainer.  If you are traumatized at the thought of chores like doing the dishes, or mopping, you need professional help.   But let’s be real for 99% of you just stop being lazy.

P.S. If your home is nasty… don’t take photos standing near a pile of mess and post them on your favorite social networking or dating site…
