My other, other job

by on Sep.07, 2011, under Art

This photo edit was a contest submission on http://www.froknowsphoto.com  You can see the contest details here http://froknowsphoto.com/edit-this-raw-file-week-41/  My entry is on page 24 as of 09/07/2011.  I have not really used Photoshop in months so I was a little rusty… I see that I need to get back into Photoshop to keep my skills exercised.  I think I will do more of these videos, it was fun to let you all see how I do magic… LoL

Pin Hole Postcard Camera by Fuji

by on Dec.22, 2010, under Globetrotting, Stamp of Approval, Technology

When I first saw this I thought it was a gimmick, but after watching the video, I think I need a stack of these to send to my friends around the world (and the US).  That is if they ever decide to sell these units to the public… but even if they don’t its a great project.  I do wish that the cameras were available without purchasing film, I would be willing to pay a for the cost of the postcard and postage even if it is sent to a person I don’t know.  How cool would it be to have a collection of images that are shared only between you and another person on the other side of the world… its nice to step back into the non-digital world every now and then.  Thanks Fuji film… now just fix the part about buying film to participate.

A moment to share #2

by on Dec.01, 2009, under My Thoughts

This weekend I had to take a trip down to Virginia Beach… unfortunately it was not a trip for pleasure and it rained much of the time I was there, but I was determined to spend some time at the beach rain or shine.  While I enjoyed the 60 degree November weather I snapped a few photos… I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed the few moments I spent on the beach enjoying the ocean spray in the air. (FYI: These photos were taken between 3:30-4:30 pm, the beach was just that empty!)

All alone on Virginia Beach, Nov. 2009(expired) life form on beachNemoVirginia Beach pierAs I walked along the beach I came across roses, which were deposited in various locations scattered about randomly, and grouped in bunches of 2 or 3 roses.  I could not help but to wonder if they were remnants of a night of celebration or if they were left on the beach as a result of sadness.

A moment to share

by on Nov.11, 2009, under Art

I think I will start a new periodic piece here called a moment to share, where I will post random things that I have observed or heard personally out in the “real world”.  I will begin with these B&W photos I took around DC during two afternoons/nights this summer (2009).
